behind the…burqa?

April 12, 2011

so France decided to ban women from wearing burqa in public..

what’s your view on that?

I personally am against it, not because I think burqa is a part of Islam or because I think Muslims are suppressed. I’m against it simply because I believe in the freedom of choice. France being a secular country is promoting democracy and that goes against what it stands for. yes some women are forced to wear it, yes it wasn’t enforced by Islam and yes some may find it uncivilized. but again we can’t leave out the fact that there are women who choose wearing burqa and decided to cover their faces is a must, you can’t deny them this right.

being liberal should go both ways, if you support the choice of NOT wearing hijab/burqa you should also respect the ones who do. yes I agree it’s not easy to stand behind something you don’t believe in but in the end you can find it in your heart to view this from a humanitarian angle.

This is not about how women in “some” Islamic countries are forced to cover up and how we should not condemn France for doing the opposite. Both are wrong and should be changed, for us..women. for our freedom of choice.

ok end of rant.

later.
